In honor of Nigeria’s ongoing general election, Google, the world’s largest search engine, has featured a special doodle on its website. The doodle showcases the Nigerian green-white-green color and displays an image of an election ballot box. By clicking on the doodle, visitors are directed to another page featuring updates on the 2023 general election and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) timetable. The doodle is labeled “Nigeria National Elections 2023” when the cursor hovers over it.
Google’s doodle is a means of marking the special day when Nigerians select their next leader to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari. The company has previously used doodles to celebrate various historical figures and events across the globe. On a related note, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced on Thursday that 87.2 million Nigerians had collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
