The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, while challenging the outcome of the February 25, 2023, presidential elections, has finally replied to whether he would contest again for the presidency in the 2027 election in case he is unable to prove to the court that he won the 2023 presidential election.
Peter Obi, while speaking during an interview with Channels Television, said, “It is not a matter of proving whether I won the election or that maybe I’ll contest in the coming 2027 election; the matter is that the election still has some issues that will be sorted out in court. I’ll be shocked if this country goes on with that situation; it will be named a completely criminalized country, and we can’t allow it.
We need to start dismantling that criminality. And that is why they keep talking about structure. The criminality and fraud we witnessed in this election is what they call their structure, but we will disband the criminality for the sake of our children’s future.
So, to whether I would accept the outcome of the court ruling or whether I would contest in another election, I won’t say anything for now until the declaration is made, and then I’ll make my comments known. “I trust the judiciary. I believe they know what is happening in society and they know the right thing to do.”
