In a show of collective solidarity, prominent labor leaders and activists, including the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, have congregated at the Unity Fountain in Abuja to participate in a peaceful protest.
Joining the protest are distinguished representatives, such as the National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Muhammed Ibrahim, and delegates from the Academic Staff Union of Universities and National Union of Road Transport Workers, among others.
The demonstration aims to voice opposition to the recent hike in fuel prices and the government’s perceived inaction in reversing certain policies that the NLC has deemed “unfriendly” and “anti-poor,” during the tenure of President Bola Tinubu.
Assembled at the Unity Fountain, these leaders and protesters stand united in their call for justice and social equity, seeking a reconsideration of the subsidy increase and pressing for the implementation of policies that prioritize the welfare of the people.
